The first signs of Spring

11th February 2011

Here we are in the middle of February with Spring just around the corner. I remember bright yellow aconites as the first flower to bloom but sadly there are none in the hotel garden. Fortunately I have a few patches of snowdrops. More can be seen on Whitcliffe Common and there is a bank of them just outside the hotel on Priors Halton Lane. The snowdrops in the picture have many petticoat layers and remind me of little ballerinas. A patch of pink cyclamen will be next to flower under the silver birch tree at the bottom of the garden. What are your first signs of Spring?

Very Good Value for Money - My wife and I followed up a recommendation by a stranger and so it was with some trepidation we booked for three nights. However, we needn't have worried because the Hotel turned out to be everything we had hoped for. Our room was on the top floor, was large and well appointed and above all was clean. Complimentary water, soap and shampoo all available in the en-suite. Wide choice at breakfast and well cooked. Ate in the Hotel lounge each evening and the food we ordered was excellent.
